Grow Your Career in the Garden: 2026 Horticulture Internship at Filoli

Are you ready to swap the lecture hall for world-class English Renaissance gardens, production orchards and hundreds of acres of natural lands? Filoli is looking for energetic, curious, and hard-working college students to join our Summer 2026 Horticulture Internship cohort.

This isn’t just a "summer job"—it’s an immersive 10-week journey into the heart of a premier nonprofit public garden and museum. You’ll work alongside expert horticulturists, get your hands dirty in our historic orchards, and help us create a welcoming natural space for every visitor who walks through our gates.

The Details

• Dates: June 15 – August 21, 2026 (We can be a little flexible with your school’s schedule!)

• Pay: $23.00 per hour (Full-time, 40 hours/week).

• Schedule: Generally Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (with some weekend/evening magic for special events).

• Location: Woodside, CA. Please note: Housing and public transportation are not available.

What You’ll Do

As a Horticulture Intern, you won't just be watching from the sidelines. You’ll rotate through the formal garden, greenhouse, orchards and natural lands to master:

• The Art of Gardening: Planting, soil prep, pruning, and professional grooming.

• Greenhouse Magic: Learning propagation and care for our plant collections.

• Modern Tools: Getting hands-on with landscape equipment and GIS mapping systems.

• Community Connection: Chatting with visitors about our displays and sharing the beauty of Filoli.

Who You Are

• A Student: Currently enrolled in a 2 or 4-year college (rising freshmen are welcome!).

• Nature-Minded: You have a demonstrated interest in horticulture, environmental science, or plant biology.

• Team-Oriented: You value diversity and see different cultural backgrounds as a huge asset to our team.

• Physical & Ready: You’re comfortable working outdoors in various conditions, climbing ladders, and can lift up to 60 lbs when the job calls for it.

• Tech-Savvy enough: Comfortable with basic Google/MS Office and email.
