Location:  Filoli Historic House & Garden, Woodside, CA

Position Type:  Full-time, Year-round, Hourly, Benefit Eligible

Schedule:  Tuesday-Saturday, typically 9:00am to 5:30pm (Includes some evenings)

Hourly Range:  $42.00 to $47.00 (Depending upon candidate experience)

Reports to:  Retail Manager & Director of Retail Operations

The Role: More Than Just a Shop

As the Assistant Retail Manager, you’ll be the right hand to our Retail Manager, helping oversee a dynamic world that includes the Clock Tower Shop, the Nursery, the Trailhead Store, and various pop-up experiences. You’ll be at the heart of our high-volume seasons—think the glow of Nightfall and the sparkle of Holidays at Filoli.

Your Daily "Uniquely Filoli" Impact:

• Lead & Inspire: Coach and develop our Retail and Multi-Skilled staff. You’re the one who helps them turn a "job" into a "craft."

• Visual Magic: Collaborate on stunning merchandising displays that reflect the beauty of our gardens. You’ll help maintain that "wow" factor our guests expect.

• Operational Engine: Support the logistics of our offsite warehouse and help us streamline how products move from "delivered" to "delighted guest."

• Guest Advocate: Handle inquiries and escalations with a calm, guest-focused demeanor. You’re the hero who turns a complaint into a solution.

• Special Events: From trunk shows to book signings, you’ll coordinate the furniture, the tech, and the team to make every retail event a success.

What You Bring to the Garden

We are looking for a self-starter who can balance the "big picture" vision with the "small detail" reality of inventory cycles and shrinkage control.

The Essentials:

• Experience: 2+ years of retail leadership (mentoring and training teams).

• The Eye: A background in visual merchandising is required. You know how to make a shelf tell a story.

• The Tech: Proficiency in Google Suite. If you know Square, YellowDog, or Shopify, you’re already ahead of the curve.

• The Vibe: A positive, calm demeanor. You can multitask in a fast-paced environment without breaking a sweat (or a vase).

• The Logistics: A Bachelor’s degree in Business/Retail is great, but 1-3 years of solid management experience is just as valuable.

Physical Requirements: This is an active role! You’ll be walking uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. You’ll be on your feet, interacting with guests and nature alike.
